Geneva, Switzerland – The Libra Association,* an independent member organization developing a blockchain-based payment system supporting financial inclusion and responsible financial services innovation, is pleased to announce the appointment of Ian Jenkins as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Risk Officer of Libra Networks. Libra Networks, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Libra Association, will manage the operations of the licensed Libra payment system.

Mr. Jenkins brings three decades of senior leadership experience in financial services across a variety of executive roles in risk, operations, and strategy to Libra Networks. As a distinguished industry leader with a broad global background, he has held CFO, CRO, and COO positions at top international banks including HSBC, Credit Suisse, and Santander. Most recently, he served as the Head of Business Finance and Group General Manager of HSBC.

The appointment of Mr. Jenkins follows a series of progress updates this year, including the selection of senior executives of Libra Association, including Stuart Levey as CEO and Steve Bunnell as Chief Legal Officer. This followed the appointment of James Emmett as Managing Director of Libra Networks, Sterling Daines as Chief Compliance Officer alongside the announcement of new members and an update on the regulatory and licensing progress with the Swiss Financial Markets Supervisory Authority (FINMA).
About Ian Jenkins
Ian Jenkins is the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Risk Officer of Libra Networks. Prior to joining the Libra project, he was the Head of Business Finance and Group General Manager at HSBC.
A longtime leader in financial services, Mr. Jenkins has served in a variety of C-suite executive positions in finance, risk, and operations at top international banks. He previously served as the Deputy Group Finance Director and CFO for Europe at HSBC, CRO at Abbey National, plc and Santander UK. As well as COO Asia Pacific at Credit Suisse.
Mr. Jenkins’ background across the financial services industry includes experience in risk and finance transformation programs, cost leadership, business partnering, investment prioritization and decisioning, management information, talent development, and global operating model transformation.
Mr. Jenkins graduated from City University London with a Master of Engineering and is a Chartered Accountant.
